I was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of MD, specifically Delmar, a town which is half in MD and half in DE. A sign marks the entry into town stating, “Delmar, the town too big for one state”. My elementary school was on the MD side, my high school on the DE side, therefore I went with my classmates to the University of DE upon graduation. Later I transferred to Salisbury University, where I earned my BS in Elementary Education.
I taught 6th grade in MD and 5th grade in NC before deciding to stay at home with my children. Once my two boys entered school I worked in the Real Estate Development office of the family business. While working there in ’98, I obtained my General Contractor’s License and got a feel for the Real Estate Development and Construction Business. A few years later I entered Real Estate school and obtained my Broker’s License. I joined Fore Properties in 2005 and have been the Moore County listing agent for Stafford Homes since that time.
My hobbies are varied. I have always been interested in sports, having played softball and basketball on my high school teams. With my family I enjoy attending sporting events, both amateur and professional. I rarely miss one of my kids’ games, and we’ve been blessed with opportunities to take them to see some amazing professional events. For example, we took the family to the US Open Golf Championship on Father’s Day in Pinehurst 2005; the Daytona 500; Yankees/Orioles games; Bobcats games; NASCAR events; numerous Philadelphia Eagles games; and for my husband’s 40th birthday I took him to Super Bowl 40.
I also enjoy the arts and have a few performers in my household. My youngest son is in his high school marching band, which consistently wins in competition. That keeps us very busy in the Fall as every weekend brings another competition. My daughter has been dancing and performing with Taylor Dance since she was 3 years old and became a Company Dancer in ‘08 and often performs with Moore OnStage so we have seen some amazing shows, including “42nd Street”. In addition to those listed above I also enjoy photography, reading, skiing and travel.
Since moving to Southern Pines in ’95 my family has attended Southern Pines United Methodist Church. I am involved with the United Methodist Women’s Ruth Circle, am a Liturgical Dancer, and have taught VBS and Terrific Tuesday. We love the outreach programs within our church, programs to help the needy including providing shelter to the homeless, food pantry, the Coalition, Habitat for Humanity, or building a church in Peru—all are worthy programs I contribute to.
My family means the world to me. We spend a lot of time together, whether it’s work or play. Our kids know the value of providing a quality home for other families and contribute to that effort from time-to-time. They see how hard we work to ensure that a home is perfect for it’s buyers. It’s important to me to know that I have done everything possible to enable my clients to rest comfortably at night– from price to interest rate to inspections and a smooth closing—I want them to have no less representation than what I would provide for myself. And, it’s important that our kids see how “doing for others” ultimately brings us joy.
Moore County is a wonderful place to live and raise a family, having the small town charm yet the proximity to Raleigh or Charlotte. Should you decide to relocate to our area I’d be delighted to meet you and assist you in finding your special home. In addition if you already live here and decide to sell your home I’d be happy to help you, as well.
